Summer was a blur of cannon balls in the lake, sunscreen, lake hair, laughter and fun. We've had so many homes join the PML family and we've had great time supporting you during the peak of summer this year.

It's now back-to-school, the first few gusts of cooler breezes hint at the beginning of fall. Although the "fun-in-the-sun" of your lakehouse is coming quickly to an end, the cozy time of year is fast approaching and PML is here to help so that once swimming and boating come to a close, you're ready for fires, cozy meals, and a fully winterized home.

We can help with properly cleaning and winterizing your boats and PWCs, cleaning and storing your summer inflatables and cushions, and putting away the remnants of summer. A proper clean and put-away ensures that there's no mold, mildew and ruined items when you're ready to enjoy summer next year.

Beyond closing out your summer - we can prepare you for fall and winter. We can:
  • stock you with firewood for the bonfires, fireplaces, and fire pit moments we all love during the winter
  • cover spigots and water access points to prevent freezing
  • decorate your home for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas
  • haul your Christmas tree/decorations to your lakehouse and even create your holiday wonderland for you...

The fall season overwhelms us with school sports for the kiddos, stressful holidays, and the never ending list of things to do. Let PML handle making your time at the lake relaxing, enjoyable and holiday fun! Tell us your vision for fall/winter and we'll make your lakehouse pumpkin spice and everything nice.

Keep calm and let PML handle it. Contact us today.

The exhausting life of wife, mother, friend, neighbor, colleague, and woman...

The fall is, by far, the most stressful time of the year for anyone...

Summer has come and gone, kids are in school (and school is eating EVERYONE's lunch with activities, projects, games, birthday parties, teacher gifts, fund raisers - don't even get me started!), Q4 is looming, deadlines, weather changes, and then of course, the holidays.

In all of these things, and too many more to mention, there is one consistent: the exhausting life. As women, we are the carriers of it all:
  • We support our spouses, who need our attention and counsel, our help and encouragement, and our love.
  • We not only raise our children, but shoulder the weight of surprise bake sales, last minute costumes for "what I want to be when I grow up day", football practice and tournament schedules, cheer competitions, band fundraisers and games, break downs, break ups, hormone changes, and the angst and pressure of raising little humans who will (God willing) go out there and change the world.
  • We are friends, nurturers, shoulders to cry on, cheerleaders, wine bringers, girls night in (and many times out) celebrators, helpers, and the first line of defense for the people you hold close to your heart.
  • We are neighbors, pillars in our community, defenders of our home and those who comprise it.
  • We are employees, bosses, business owners, CEOs of homes, CEO's of companies, students, part-time workers, nurses, shift workers, lawyers, business women, and most of all - damn busy!
  • But most of all, we are women... and it is exhausting.

We put so much on our plates, always finding a little more room for one more thing. It all piles up, inevitably, at the end of the year, when we have so very much to be thankful for, no matter our struggle.

With the end of the year comes the most exhausting part of the life we live. Social commitments, multiple holidays that all require not only going to parties, but entertaining our own friends and family, and the holidays themselves all fall on us to "handle."

I've found that with help, we remain the superwomen that people see us to be. We all offer it to each other, yet when we need it most, never seem to offer it to ourselves. It's in our nature to handle it all, because, we're women. It's what we do. "Who else is going to do it?" we ask ourselves at 2 am when we're furiously cleaning the house for a surprise Spring fling fundraiser night that we're roped into hosting for school.

Let Prep My Lakehouse help. We understand. We live it day to day. Don't burden a friend with that heavy ask, and for heaven's sake, don't do it alone.  However little or much you need, we've got you covered.  I started this company because I was living the exhausted life: working 80 hours a week, never saying no, and the pile and stress grew, and grew. I was giving 100% to multiple things, which left me physically and emotionally in the red for my life.

When I finally looked for help, and couldn't find someone who understood, cared about what I found to be important in home care, entertaining support, and doing business - THAT's when I knew things in my life had to change.

Prep My Lakehouse is so much more than just a company to me. It's a life line for all of us living the exhausted life. We all need to build each other up, help each other out, and grow. Sometimes, it just takes giving a company a chance, and watching your world become just a little better, your holiday a little calmer, your home a little cleaner, or your life a little easier.

Let us handle the weights you're carrying.  I'm not saying we're the cure for exhaustion, but wouldn't you like to try?

Prep My Lakehouse - we're here to help.

Funky Cushions - Icky Patio Furniture

The weather has finally decided to work with you, the long, damp, unforgiving winter months are behind us and it's that first wonderful weekend to sit out on your patio furniture and enjoy the bliss of the lake.
You envision this.

But what you uncover is this.
Picture
You've got funky cushions and icky patio furniture after a season of wet weather, damp and dirty conditions, and no sun or cleaning to those cushions.
We all know that new patio cushions are both expensive and usually difficult to find to fit precisely the way the "original" set did that came with your patio furniture. (Interesting little scam those patio furniture companies have... Replacement cushions are almost as expensive as new furniture and always seem to be just shy of the right size for your furniture...)

The solution, is simple. It just takes a time, a sunny day, and some elbow grease. Since so many of us don't have a fully day to waste cleaning patio furniture once we're AT the lake, just call Prep My Lakehouse(PML) and your PML lakehouse manager can take care of it before you arrive so all you have to do is enjoy.

Now, if you prefer to tackle the challenge yourself, on a fully sunny day - start first thing in the morning. You'll need the sun from the day to dry off your freshly cleaned items. Put on your work clothes, grab a hat and here goes:

Don't worry, this isn't about the mythical Lady of the Lake - or any sort of insinuation that I'm affiliated with the lore therein...

This is a blog about being a lakehouse owner and the life challenges and joys that brings. This is also a place to share your life hacks, lessons learned, and ideas surrounding lake living in general.
"The lakehouse is my sanctuary. It is the most relaxing place to spend precious time with friends and family."                   - MARIA TERRELL
People joke that the best and worst days of their lives was the day they bought their jet ski/boat/lakehouse and the day they sold it. In each joke is a bit of truth... From this truth is where Prep My Lakehouse came to be.

Summer is almost upon us; with that comes all the time consuming preparations to your lakehouse to keep it ready for your use, family and friend visits, and overall life.  Between the spring cleaning, outside bug cleaning/removal, purging and organizing your pantry (seriously, the Tuna Helper from 1987 needs to be tossed!) - you've spent your entire first few weekends at the lake working.

Heaven forbid you've got a plumbing or AC issue and need to meet a service or repair man. It costs extra for a weekend visit, and you spend your entire weekend waiting for repairs, along with struggling with a hot house, leaky pipes, or whatever the the drama may be.

Using a service like Prep My Lakehouse - we can manage your house for you, to your specifications. Let us wait and supervise the repairs, documenting before and after for you, and taking care of it during the week, so your time at the lake is stress free.  We can spring clean your home, making sure your home is fresh, dust and musty-smell free! We'll purge those pantries of expired or spoiled food and re-stock them for you.

Try a new way to stay stress free - use Prep My Lakehouse and let us handle the work, all you have to do is enjoy.
